Bev Bunker
Bev Bunker is an Alberta-born artist currently residing in St. Albert, Alberta with her husband and his 200 canaries. She has been active in the art field for over 30 years. She has studied varied aspects of art and art specializations in England, Ireland, Wales, the U.S.A. and throughout the Province of Alberta. She has been commissioned by the Province of Alberta, Corporations, various companies and private individuals. Bev's work has homes in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ireland, England, and Rome. Her paintings are also represented by ArtBeat Gallery in St. Albert, Alberta - a commercial art gallery featuring the works of many well-known Canadian artists.
Bev currently works with traditional oil paints and her paintings are often inspired by ordinary people doing ordinary things. She also paints landscapes and scenes viewed from personal travels close to home as well as further away. Some of her works are described as 'narratives' wherein a story is created by the skillful use of atmosphere and figures placed within a scene. Bev wishes the viewer to engage their own senses within the images, letting the 'story' tell itself and bring meaning to the viewer.
Bev has taught many art and art-specialty workshops in her native area in St. Albert, also in Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary, as well as overseas in Totnes' historic Dartington Hall - a beautiful medieval manor in England.
