Bi Yuan Cheng Paintings

Born in 1957 and raised in Jinan, China, Yuan Cheng Bi began practicing art in various mediums under the encouragement of his father at age 5. At age eleven, Bi was taken under the wing of one of China's most prestigious art professors to learn landscaping, watercolor and oil. This mentorship, a great factor in his career, went on for ten years.

An accomplished art instructor by 1975, in 1979 he attended the ZiangXi Art Universityand, as a top student, earnedf a Bachelor degree in Art. Dozens of Bi's pieces were collected by the University's Art Museum.

After graduating in 1983, Bi worked in landscaping and sculptural design at Shandong Architectural Company. His large sculptures in many media (marble, metal, concrete, one 30 meters tall) have won many awards and grace many venues in China.

Highly recognized and awarded in China, Bi emigrated to Canada in 1990, and he presently still lives in Edmonton. He started his own art studio in 1992 and has found his prominent work in original oil and acrylic painting as well as in mural painting. For the last ten years, Bi has painted over 50 murals throughout Alberta.
