Russ Hogger
Russ Hogger was born in 1941 and raised in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, the heart of John Constable country. He attended the Ipswich School of Art from 1956 to 1960 after which he apprenticed in the pattern-making trade for five years. In 1963, he and his wife emigrated to Edmonton, Canada.
Upon coming to Canada, Russ continued his art education with Life Classes at the Edmonton Art Gallery. Later he attended classes in watercolours at the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension.
Russ has been painting in watercolour and acrylic for most of his fine art career. His watercolours have been exhibited widely across the province. His work was shown at "The Works", one of Edmonton's premier art festivals, three years in a row.
Public collections of Russ' paintings are held by W.C. McKenzie Health Sciences Centre, Edmonton; Fischbuch Consultants, Calgary; and Ponoka Hospital. His work is also in many private collections in Canada, England and the United States.
Since the early 1990's, Russ has been an instructor in watercolour with Continuing Education. He is a Signature member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists.
