The Raku Works of
Joanna Drummond

Joanna Drummond has been practicing the art of Raku since 1986. She has two public mural installations to her credit, one in the Sturgeon Hospital Chapel and the other mural is in the Campbell Park Arena, both in St. Albert. Her artist stament reads as follows:

"As the clay unfolds, so do my thoughts and creativity. A response to the natural qualities of my clay is what inspires me when forming a vessel. Most times I have not pre-envisioned my work, but respond emotionally to what is taking place during the process. Form is importantto me but my glazing technique, in my opinion, is what makes the work come alive." She also says that her inspiration comes from the ancient pottery of Africa, Australia and South America.
