Gerry Nason
Gerry Nason, artist and sculptor, operated a successful graphics studio in Edmonton, Alberta for 20 years until, in 1981, he turned to sculpture as a diversion from painting. He discoverd that he preferred working in three dimensional media, and has since developed his sculpture in various mediums including stone, wood, ice, bronze, and other cast mediums.
Gerry spent 7 years of apprenticeship in the Graphic Arts and 3 years of evening courses in Fine Arts at the University of Alberta. He also attended courses in sculpture, mold making, and bronze casting in the Red Deer College Series Programs.
Gerry's work is primarily influenced by nature; his subject matter includes animals of Alberta, and figurative sculpture with emphasis on simplicity of shape. His works have been commissioned by numerous corporations and government agencies and has been included in both private and corporate collections across Canada and in Japan.
